Penerapan Media Konkret (Permen) Untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Penjumlahan Bersusun Pada Siswa Kelas 2 SD
Abstract
Mathematics learning in lower elementary school grades requires concrete media that can help students understand abstract concepts. Stacked addition is a fundamental concept that often becomes difficult for second-grade elementary school students. Concrete media such as candy can be an interesting and meaningful learning solution. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of concrete media (candy) on improving the understanding of the stacked addition concept in second-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Serampingan. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is implemented in 2 cycles. The research subjects are 28 students of class 2A of SD Negeri 1 Serampingan. Data collection techniques use tests, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show a significant increase in understanding of the stacked addition concept. Classical completeness increased from 46.4% in the pre-cycle to 71.4% in the first cycle and 89.3% in the second cycle. The average student score increased from 62.5 (pre-cycle) to 74.8 (cycle I) and 84.2 (cycle II). Conclusion: Concrete media (candy) is proven to be effective in improving the understanding of the concept of addition in grade 2 elementary school students. This media creates fun, concrete, and meaningful learning according to the stage of students' cognitive development.
